Top Design

The exhibition of this year's winners of the international TOP DESIGN award competition, which was settled during the arenaDESIGN event in March in Poznań.

Lighting Zone

A spot for presenting the latest lighting developments by Polish and foreign companies who are renowned for their innovative solutions and superb design. The main objective behind this project is
to create an active forum for cooperation aimed at promoting items and technologies around the same exhibition formula.

Ferruccio Laviani

Artistic Director of Kartell

Ferruccio Laviani is a charismatic designer who in his work focuses mainly on product design − lighting, furniture. He appeared in the public consciousness among others with his Baroque Bourgie lamp for Kartell, which captures the style of the designer's work − going beyond conventions and searching for new definitions of objects and beauty. He loves colour, play with plastic and bold forms; he does not escape from humour, irony, and sometimes poetry.

Born in 1960, Laviani attended Istituto Professionale Internazionale per l'Artigianato Liutarioe del Legno di Cremona, where he received a diploma in 1978. He continued his education at the Faculty of Architecture in Milan, from where he got under the wing of Ettore Sottsass − one of the founders of the revolutionary Memphis Group. In 1991, he decided to establish his own studio in Milan. His style still features some reminiscences of his cooperation with avant-garde colleagues − the desire that bold “pop” forms add variety to grey reality.

Since 1991 Laviani has been the artistic director of Kartell. He previously performed this function for brands such as Flos, De Padova, Foscarini, Moroso, Society (Limonta) and Emmemobili. He also designs commercial spaces and private homes and residences, and also carries out projects for global brands such as Cassina, Dolce e Gabbana, Dada – Molteni & C., Barovier & Toso, Piper- Heidsieck, Missoni, Citroen, Hansgrohe, Martini e Rossi, Swarovski, Veuve Cliquot, Moët Hennessy, Marazzi Group, La Rinascente, MisuraEmme, Piombo, Ermenegildo Zegna, Paula Cademartori, Renault, Zuhair Murad, Haworth, Emilio Pucci, Zara, Habitat, Society (Limonta), Pasticceria Cova, Samsung.
